The Fox

Cunning, hungry, manipulative, and secretive. The Fox hungers to be like their peers but only knows how to fit in through domination and manipulation. This playbook works with themes of alienation, desire for connection, and cycles of violence.

The Fox is based on the gumiho, the nine-tailed fox of Korean mythology. While there are several tales about the gumiho, this playbook is inspired by stories about such mythological beasts attempting to become human. These stories often require the creature to make some sort of deception such as living with a human mate for 100 days without their true identity being revealed or gaining humanity by killing and devouring a certain number of humans. The tales about gumihos are often the latter, with them depending on a mixture of violence and deception to achieve their goal.
